I'm sitting in the hospital with my little sister Annie, who is 14, while she heals from getting her appendix removed. Yesterday morning at about 8:30 my dad called me and told me Annie was in the emergency room. My dad didn't really know what was going on. So I washed my face and brushed my teeth and drove to the hospital. By the time I made it to the ER, she was just about ready for the surgery. I went to see her, and about a minute after I got to the room she was off. As they pushed her away, she gave me a funny look as if to say, 'What are you doing here?' I smiled as I raised my hand for a small wave.
Poor kid, she was in so much pain. Since the surgery is over, she has yet to eat. She is so hungry she started crying. I didn't know what to do for her. She can't eat till she starts passing gas. It's been over 35 hours since the surgery. I know she didn't eat for a good 8-10 hours before that.
I have to say that the support I am giving her is really helping. She is really having a tough time moving around and opening doors to the bathroom and her room, so I do that for her. The nurses want her to walk around as much as possible, which would be about once an hour. SHe cried to me earlier today when we went for a walk. Mom wasn't helping her with the doors or getting out of bed. I know it doesn't seem like much, but it really helps. Hospital doors are heavy.
Well, I have more to cover, but I'm really sleepy. Annie is watching "How to Train Your Dragon" which is an awesome movie
